SIMULATIONS such as fog machines, electricity balls, and sun lamps are interesting to me as contained and controllable versions of reality ( in these three instances, the weather). A fog machine, for example, is a device which emits a dense vapor that appears similar to fog or smoke. This artificial fog or smoke, known as theatrical smoke, is culturally connected to either nightclubs or haunted houses and aims to create a mock environment of mystery.

Simulations, much like storytelling and fiction, extract the experience of an event and distill the sensation as a phenomenon.
