ELIOTT EARLS. When I realized I wanted my work to become fearless, I sought out learning from Elliott Earls. Thanks to a workshop in Colorado and a couple of visits to Cranbrook, I have been fortunate to take in a lot of his advice. The most recent critique I received at Cranbrook threw me for a tailspin, almost an identity crisis. The overarching comment was that my work is not genuine enough, that it is hip, not sincere. I looked down at my painted nails and vintage boots, recognized all the signs I was flashing to the world...The communities I was trying so hard to be part of....
and I felt like such a poser.
